SXSW 2009

It seriously doesn't get any better than Austin, TX in March.  Not only is the weather AMAZING, but the city is so totally alive with music and art.  This is our first SXSW experience, and we didn't even bother to buy the all access pass since we knew it would go to waste with a 1 year old in tow.  But it really doesn't matter...the amount of free stuff to do during this festival is crazy.  Sam has been traveling to various music venues every day since Wednesday.  Not only is the people watching spectacular for him, but he is very much enjoying the occasional chance to dance and to eat junk food, of course!  The best part of it all is that we can walk everywhere from our house, so we haven't had to deal with flipping the coin for whose driving!  Here are some shots over the past few days.  We couldn't be any happier to be in Austin these days!

Sam and Papa enjoy a slice at "Music by the Slice 09" - our neighborhood Pizza joint, Home Slice

Shane and Sam take a break from dancing to enjoy a snack with Johanna at the San Jose

Sam and I rocking out at the San Jose - notice his sweet mohawk in full effect (needless to say he fits right in with this crowd!)

Another Lefty?

Could it be that Aunt Jen somehow passed her freakishness on to Sam?  Well then, lets hope some of her brains managed to sneak in too!  Here is a video from breakfast this morning.  Sam always eats and plays with his left hand.  We are thinking it's going to stick!  (Sorry for the poor editing...I am new to iMovie.)

Let's Go Fly a Kite

This past weekend was the 81st annual Zilker Kite Festival in Austin, and it was pretty freakin awesome! It's events like these that make me realize why we love Austin so much and why it is so great to raise kids in this town. Zilker Park is only a few miles from our home and we joined our friends, the Fudges, for the event. The weather was perfectly sunny and windy and the crowd was insane. It was a little crazy trying to dodge all of the kites, but the kids had a ball pointing at the sky and watching all of the doggies go by. We capped the day off with burgers and beers at Shady Grove, so it doesn't get much better than that.

Robert and David fly their kites (not very successfully!)

People watching while snacking  is so fun!

The end of a long day!
